Marshall County Courthouse
Sally Ann Robertson, 406 Orchard Dr., made an initial appearance through counsel, Kevin O’Hare, on a operating while intoxicated-first offense charge. The preliminary hearing was waived.
Donald Eugene Liger, 924 N. 5th Ave., made an initial appearance on a failure to comply with the sex offender registry regulations charge. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 22. Liger was released through the Department of Correctional Services-Adult Probation Office and is to sign a release agreement within 24 hours.
Hattie Mae Hugens, address unknown, made an initial appearance through counsel, Joanie Grife, on a driving on the wrong side of the highway charge. She pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on Feb. 5.
Brittni Overman and Brandon Ash, addresses unknown, made an initial appearance on a failure to appear at a judgment for a debtor’s exam. The court allowed attorney Tom Hillers to conduct the examination in a private conference room. The posted bond was condemned to be applied to the judgment owed in the case.
Jorge Sanchez-Vazquez, 1007 1/2 W. Church St., made an initial appearance on a willfully dispensing alcoholic beverages on a premises after hours. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on Feb. 5 in Magistrate Court. He will represent himself in this case. The posted bond will continue until the conclusion of the case.
Marc Anthony Dolan, 410 E. State St. Apt. #3, made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated charge and a no valid driver’s license charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 22. He was represent himself in this matter. Dolan was released on his own recognizance. The court ordered that he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days.
Marques Haynes, 901 W. Nevada St., made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse charge and a harassment-first degree charge. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 14. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. The court ordered that if Haynes possessed any firearms or ammunition he is make arrangements with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office to surrender them within 24 hours. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.
Chris Fifo, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a criminal mischief-second degree charge. He has hired Mike Marquess to represent him in this case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 22. Fifo was released on his own recognizance.
Connie Rae Starn, of Albion, made an initial appearance on a interference with official acts charge. She pleaded guilty and was fined $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50. The court condemned the bond for payment with the remainder of $97.50 due by Feb. 1.
Michael Robinson, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for contempt hearing and sentencing hearing. Chad Frese, which was already appointed, will continue representation. The sentencing hearing and contempt hearing will be set together at 3:15 p.m. on Jan. 11. Bond is set at $3,000 cash only.
Sean Eric Turnbull, 514 N. 2nd Ave. Apt. #2, made an initial appearance on a arrest warrant for failure to appear for probation revocation hearing. Darrell Meyer will continue appointment as counsel. The probation revocation hearing is set for 11 a.m. on Jan. 11. Bond will continue as posted until the hearing and Turnbull will continue with conditions of probation.
Grundy County Sheriff’s Office
On Dec. 27, Justin Redix, age 32, of Wellsburg, was arrested at the intersection of 120th Street and U Avenue for violation of a no-contact order. He posted bond and was released.
On Dec. 17, Jason Haddeman, age 32, of Holland, was arrested on a Grundy County warrant charging him with possession of methamphetamine. He posted bond and was released.
On Dec. 28, a vehicle driven by Donald Schlickman, age 62, of Dubuque, was westbound on Highway 20 when it went out of control on the icy roadway, entered the north ditch and stopped when it struck a large snow drift. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Schlickman vehicle was estimated at $6,000.
On Dec. 28, a car driven by Jennifer Blackburn, age 25, of Grundy Center, was southbound on T-29 south of 260th Street when it went out of control on the snow covered roadway, entered the west ditch, rolled and came to rest on the driver’s side. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Blackburn car was estimated at $5,000.
On Dec. 20, vehicles driven by Ronald Ladehoff, age 65, of Conrad, and Jacob Smith, age 19, of Conrad, collided head-on on 330th Street west of H Avenue due to blowing snow causing reduced visibility. At this time no injuries were reported. Damage to the Ladehoff vehicle was estimated at $5,000 while the Smith vehicle received an estimated $4,000 in damage.
On Dec. 19, a vehicle driven by William Tanner, age 60, of Marshalltown, was northbound on Highway 14 at the intersection with 300th Street when it went out of control on the slushy roadway, entered the east ditch and struck a utility pole. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Tanner vehicle was estimated at $3,000.
On Dec. 15, a car driven by Kenneth Boone, age 38, of Gladbrook, was northbound on T-55 south of 170th Street when it struck a deer that entered the traveled portion of the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Boone car was estimated at $1,500.
Marshalltown Fire Department
The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1712 Olson Way, 1211 W. State St., 2510 S. 6th St., 1015 S. 6th St., 1110 E. Main St., 1211 W. State St., and 1007 S. 12th Ave.
The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a special call at 2401 New Salem Rd., a fire at 200 S. 12th Ave., and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 906 S. 10th Ave., 711 N. 4th Ave., and 205 W. Olive St.
The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to four rescue situations at: 1002 W. Nevada St., 1011 W. Nevada St., 201 N. 2nd Ave., and 403 S. 2nd St., and two medical assists with the EMS crew at 1212 W. Anson St., and 906 N. 5th Ave.
