BOYS BASKETBALL: Colo-NESCO makes it 3 straight; 2 for Spartans

COLO – Brandyn Niemeyer tallied a game-high 23 points and Jake Webb scored 16 points for the third straight game as the Colo-NESCO boys’ basketball team rallied past Northeast Hamilton for a 59-55 victory in Monday’s Iowa Star Conference clash.

The Royals trailed 53-44 entering the fourth quarter before outscoring their guests 15-2 in the final period for the league win.

Niemeyer led Colo-NESCO (8-4, 7-2) with nine rebounds, six steals and four assists as well, and the team collected its fourth straight victory. He has scored in double-digits in all but one game this season, this one making it six times of at least 20 points.

J.T. Adams chipped in 12 points while Webb added seven rebounds in the win.

Logan Seiser paced Northeast Hamilton (4-4, 3-4) with 22 points, connecting on five 3-pointers, and Noah Ronnfeldt had 17 points. Trevor Klaver added 10.

Colo-NESCO’s six-game homestand continues with its second phase tonight against CAL, and Dunkerton comes to Colo on Friday.

Grundy Center 57, Valley Lutheran 36

CEDAR FALLS – Grundy Center outscored Valley Lutheran 19-8 in the second quarter to break free on its way to a 57-36 non-conference victory in Monday’s make-up game.

Dylan Lyman had 17 points and six rebounds to lead the Spartans (2-9) to their second straight win, and Ryon Appel added a season-best 16 points. Brady Hook had eight points and two blocked shots, and Lane Bangasser added seven points. Elliot Eggleston chipped in with five points and five assists.

Isaiah Armbrecht made four 3-pointers on his way to a team-leading 17 points for Valley Lutheran. He also paced the Crusaders (0-8) with seven rebounds.
