MHS student charged with harassment, threat of terrorism

Marshalltown High School student Johnny Fox, 17, has been charged with two counts of harassment and a threat of terrorism by the Marshalltown Police Department. It is alleged threats were made by Fox to two fellow students through text messages. One of the threats indicated that one of the individuals would be assaulted at an MHS sponsored activity. Officers investigated and found no evidence indicating anything more than the threats. Last week, MHS Principal Aiddy Phomvisay sent an email to the MHS community about the incident.

“School administration was made aware of verbal threats made by a student about bringing a weapon to school to harm himself and others,” the email from Phomvisay indicates. “We take all threats seriously and contacted the Marshalltown Police Department, who made contact with the student and his family at home (Wednesday) morning.”

The investigation continues on the incident.
