Felon caught possessing gun
Police charged a local man for possessing a firearm while being a convicted felon Friday.
Ardis Allen, 56, faces charges of disorderly conduct, a simple misdemeanor, and possession of a firearm as a convicted felon, a Class D felony, after police responded to a call for a disturbance at his home on Melody Lane Friday evening.
When police arrived at the home, they heard Allen arguing in the apartment with two women, said Capt. Mike Hanken, with the Marshalltown Police Department.
After knocking on the door, officers heard the distinct sound of a shotgun cocking and ordered everyone into the hall. Allen and the two women came out without incident and police arrested Allen on the aforementioned charges.
