Rebels ramp up defense to top Union

REINBECK – Camden Kickbush and Jacob Smoldt scored 15 points apiece and the Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys’ basketball team held Union Community to 19 points below its average, beating the Knights 55-32 in Saturday’s cross-NICL contest.

Zach Pierce added nine points and Logan Koester had five for the Rebels (11-3), who are allowing fewer than 42 points per game.

Jay Scheel led the Knights (6-8) with 12 points.

G-R is on the road Tuesday with another cross-conference game at Jesup. The Rebels face West Marshall in an NICL West showdown Friday in State Center.
