Bridal Expo offers smorgasbord of options

Weddings take planning.

There are flower arrangements to select, cakes to sample and photographers to consider. With so many decisions to make, having everything in one place proves convenient. That’s why the Times-Republican is hosting the sixth annual Bridal Expo from noon to 3 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Best Western Regency Inn, 3303 S. Center St.

“We always have a fantastic turn out,” said Desiree Tacconi, organizer for the event. “It’s a great place to look at all your options and really talk one-on-one with wedding service providers.”

Thirty central Iowa wedding professionals will be on hand with samples and advice for those preparing to tie the knot.

The expo’s runway show – where models strut their stuff to show off tuxedos, bride’s maid dresses and, of course, wedding gowns – is always the highlight of the day, Tacconi said. Often, it’s standing room only.

“It’s a fun, festive atmosphere,” Tacconi said.

Door prizes, including a $300 travel voucher from Tallyho Travel, will be available. The expo is free and open to the public.

New this year, My Diva Princess, of Tama, will showcase flower girl dresses.

Tacconi said, just like the previous five years, she expects a good crowd as brides and their entourages gear up for their special day.

“The brides have a great time,” she said. “They walk away with some really great ideas.”

Vendors can still register, although space is limited, Tacconi said.
