Poor shooting plagues MCC vs. Grand View JV
A poor shooting night doomed the Marshalltown women’s basketball team on Monday night at the Student Activity Center.
The Tigers hit just 18-of-69 from the floor and were just 4-of-23 from long range in a 60-53 loss to the Grand View University junior varsity.
Mady Van Metre led the Tigers with 17 points and eight rebounds but she hit just 7-of-24 from the floor, while Mackenzie Gott finished with nine points and 14 rebounds but was 3-for-15 from the field. Ashley Salgado also was 2-of-10 from the floor but finished with 10 points and a team-high eight assists in the loss.
The Tigers (9-17) trailed by just one at the break and were outscored 34-28 in the second half. MCC also turned it over 17 times in the loss.
Britny Halleland led all scorers with 21 points, while Katie Houston added 15 points for the Vikings. Anna Sweeting contributed 13 rebounds.
The Tigers next play at Southeastern (15-11) on Wednesday night.
