Former Cyclone Bolte to be honored by IGHSAU

DES MOINES – Kelsey Bolte’s competitive drive at Battle Creek-Ida Grove and later at Iowa State led to a unique honor she has received.

Bolte, in her first year of eligibility, has been named to the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union’s Hall of Fame. Bolte, Dona Fenske (Audubon) and Jessica Nikkel (Lynnville-Sully) will be inducted in a ceremony that will take place next Friday at halftime of the Class 2A state championship game at Wells Fargo Arena.

Bolte was a two-time first-team all-state selection who graduated from BC-IG in 2007. The only athlete in the five-player era to surpass 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 500 steals, Bolte led the Falcons to 2A state championship game appearances in 2006 and 2007.

Bolte finished her high school career with 2,026 points, 1,016 rebounds, 516 steals, 448 assists and 327 blocked shots. She made 2A all-tournament honors as both a junior and a senior, winning Iowa Miss Basketball honors in 2007.

Bolte went on to Iowa State, leading the Cyclones to four NCAA Tournament appearances. A unanimous first-team Big 12 selection as a senior, Bolte finished her career as ISU’s career leader in free throw percentage (.879), third in three-point field goals (276) and sixth in scoring (1,639).
