Margaret Von Krog, 97

Margaret Von Krog, 97, of Marshalltown, and formerly, of Boone, died Feb. 22, 2013, at the Boone County Hospital in Boone. Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall in Boone with Pastor Thomas Bower officiating. Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

Margaret was born in Logansport on Nov. 11, 1915, the daughter of Daniel and Anthia (Lewis) Price. She graduated from Boone High School in 1932. Margaret married Carl Von Krog in Boone in 1933. The couple lived in Boone until 1958 when they moved to Marshalltown. In earlier years, she worked in the Marshalltown school system in the school lunch program for over 10 years. Margaret was a member of the Sweet Adelines and the First Presbyterian Church. Margaret was very active in her church, playing the organ and singing in the choir. She enjoyed sewing, watching sports, cooking, reading and solving crossword puzzles. Margaret was an avid Iowa State University Cyclones and Chicago Cubs fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Rod Von Krog and his wife Mary Jane; a sister Maye Irwin and husband C.E. “Hap;” and a great grandson Keaton Clark.

Margaret is survived by three daughters: Danis Lingren and husband Lee “Squeak,” of Boone; Karlyne Von Krog, of Marshalltown, and Nicole Navara, of Ankeny; a sister Gretchen (Chris) Grabau, of Boone; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great grandchildren.

Friends may call at Schroeder Memorial Chapel in Boone on Thursday from 8 a.m. to the time of the service at 11 a.m.
