First team all-Northern Division for MHS’ Oden

After leading all of Class 5A in rebounds this past season, Marshalltown senior Eisha Oden was named to the Central Iowa Conference Northern Division’s first team.

Oden averaged 10.5 points and 10 rebounds per game and was the only first-team member to average a double-double. Oden also had a team-high 42 steals.

Earning a spot on the Northern Division second team was MHS sophomore Rachel Blagg, while senior Lauren Mazour, junior Amanda Hughes and sophomore Samantha Hughes were all honorable mention selections.

Blagg averaged 3.4 points and 3.3 rebounds for the Bobcats this year but also finished with 25 steals and 14 assists. Mazour and Amanda Hughes both averaged six points per game, while Sam Hughes contributed 4.6 ppg. Mazour also led the squad in assists with 45, while Amanda Hughes dished out 36 helpers.

Joining Oden on the Northern Division first-team were Mason City’s Jadda Buckley, Cortni Rush and Makenzie Meyer and Ames’ duo of Shaya Kellogg and Molly Sanders.

Buckley, an Iowa State recruit, averaged 11.5 points per game this season but also missed several games with an injury. Kellogg, an Oklahoma signee, scored 12.1 ppg and grabbed 7.6 rpg for the Little Cyclones. Both Rush and Meyer averaged around 10.5 ppg for the state-ranked Mohawks.

Mason City and Ames both finished 5-1 in the Northern Division, while MHS was 2-4 and Fort Dodge was 0-6.
