David Xavier Bennett, of Emmetsburg, made an initial appearance on a warrant for failure to appear for pre-trial conference charge. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle his case. The pre-trial conference is reset for 1:30 p.m. on April 5 and the jury trial is rescheduled for 9 a.m. on April 11. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only.
Zachary Dean Roberts, of Tama, made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle his case. The probation revocation hearing is set for 9 a.m. on March 27. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only.
Phillip Joseph Bittner, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a parole violation charge. The court appointed Merrill Swartz to represent him in this matter before the court. The parole revocation hearing will be placed on the calendar by the Department of Correctional Services. No bond was allowed pending the outcome of the parole revocation hearing.
Josh Arcelo, 105 N. 12th Ave., made an initial appearance on a warrant for an application to revoke probation. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle his case. The probation revocation hearing is set for 11 a.m. on March 25. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only.
Joseph Zein, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a aggravated domestic abuse-strangulation charge. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on March 20. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. The court ordered that if Zein possessed any firearms or ammunition he was to make arrangements with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office to surrender them within 24 hours. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

On Tuesday, it was reported that hit and run damage was done to two vehicles, a Ford Taurus and a Oldsmobile Delta while they were parked at 206 Nicholas Dr. Estimated value of damage to the Taurus was $2,000 while the Olds Delta received an estimated $400 in damage.
On Monday, Joseph Zein, 514B E. Olive St. Apt. #402, was arrested for aggravated domestic assault-strangulation.
On Monday, Erwin Ray Dewalt Jr., 314 N. 14th Ave., was arrested for disorderly conduct and interference with official acts.
On Sunday, Scott William Doc Slocum, 210 S. 5th St. Apt. #1, was arrested for aggravated domestic assault-strangulation, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Monday, a car driven by Janet Latrieve Hooper, 202 N. 16th St., was northbound on South Sixth Street when it went out of control during the freezing rain and sleet and struck a mailbox owned by Larry Halverson, 1706 S. 6th St. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Hooper car was estimated at $2,000 while the Halverson mailbox received an estimated $100 in damage.
On March 5, a pickup driven by Matthew Dean Barber, 401 Dennis Dr., was plowing the snow in the street near his residence when as the driver was backing up it struck a legally parked car on Glenwood Terrace. No injuries were reported. Barber was cited for failure to maintain control and striking unattended vehicle. Damage to the Barber pickup was estimated at $100 while the legally parked car received an estimated $2,000 in damage.
On Feb. 22, a car driven by Hayley Nicole Lillibridge, 1806 Knollwood Dr., was northbound on South Third Avenue approaching the intersection with East Olive Street when it began to slide as the driver applied the brakes and the attempt to evade contact failed and it collied with the rear of a vehicle driven by Trevor Dashawn Weidler, 106 S. 5th Ave., which was stopped at the intersection. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Lillibridge car was estimated at $2,000 while the Weidler vehicle received an estimated $1,500 in damage.
Marshalltown Fire Department
The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a call at 201 N. 2nd Ave., a fire call at 101 NewCastle Rd., a rescue at 3400 Reed Ave., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 206 Nicholas Dr., 125 S. 11th St., 202 N. 2nd Ave., 506 N. 14th Ave., and 2009 S. Center St.
The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 3120 S. 2nd St., 402 N. 10th Ave., and 2307 Edgebrook Dr.
The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a rescue at 1600 Wallace Ave., a fire call to 1012 E. South St., and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 2802 S. Center St., 3202 S. 12th St., 1201 S. 12th Ave., and 705 Circle Dr.
The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two fire calls at 312 E. Main St., and 313 Swayze St., and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1610 Fremont St., 615 Summit St., 406 Plaza Heights Rd., 410 Nicholas Dr., 512 S. 6th St., and 307 S. 2nd St.
