Runner-up performances highlight at Central Indoor
PELLA – A pair of runner-up finishes highlighted the area results from the Central College Indoor track and field meet Saturday at the Kuyper Fieldhouse.
Marshalltown’s 4×400-meter relay team of Saryn Case, Tabby Steffensen, Rachel Blagg and Eisha Oden collected a silver-medal performance with a combined time of 4 minutes, 27.06 seconds, while East Marshall’s Paige Miller took second in the 3,000 in 11:56.67.
Oden added a third-place finish for MHS in the 200, clocking 27.31, while she also anchored the Bobcats’ third-place 4×200 relay. Chione Brooks, Steffensen, Case and Oden timed in at 1:55.9.
Rachel Blagg took fifth in the 800 in 2:33.7, and she also opened for Marshalltown’s 4×800 relay. The Bobcat quartet of Blagg, Michaela Huey, Kari Smith and Victoria Jones was fifth in 10:49.9.
Miller had an additional pair of placewinner performances, placing eighth in both the 1,500 and the 800. Her times in the 3,000 and the 1,500 were both indoor season bests.
The Mustangs’ quartet of Kelsea Anderson, Haley Fye, Brooke Miller and Meriel Leavy came in ninth in the 4×800 (11:17.08), while Leavy tied for 11th place with a high jump of 4 feet, 8 inches.
On Friday, the Marshalltown boys’ team tallied a pair of placewinner performances. The 4×800 foursome of Aaron Hauser, Zach Wells, Anthony Fleck and Daniel Talbert came in fourth in 9:03.76, and the Bobcat 4×400 of Hauser, Kolby Keeler, Connor Kacmarynski and Marco Tapia took sixth in 3:47.98.
Tad Steffensen scored 10th in the 55-meter dash (6.54 seconds) and Paul Landherr was 12th in the 55 high hurdles (8.05).
