Panther women gain bid for Women’s NIT

CEDAR FALLS – The Northern Iowa women’s basketball team has accepted an at-large bid to play in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament, the school announced Monday night.

The Panthers will face off against Marquette on Friday in Milwaukee, Wis., in the first round of the WNIT.

Game times have not yet been determined.

This will Northern Iowa’s first appearance in the WNIT since 2006 and fourth overall. The last time the Panthers met the Golden Eagles was in 2000, when UNI won a 69-62 tilt in the Saint Mary’s Thanksgiving Classic.

This is Northern Iowa’s fourth straight postseason appearance.
