Falling temperatures postpone events
Monday’s frigid temperatures forced a number of changes to the Marshalltown-area’s high school sports schedule.
The Bobcat girls’ tennis team had its season-opening meet against Pella postponed, though a make-up date had not been announced. MHS is scheduled to host Newton today at 4 p.m.
The Gladbrook-Reinbeck golf teams called off their trip to Jesup because of the plummeting temps, and Colo-NESCO’s home and away dual against Roland-Story has been postponed to April 15. The girls square off in Colo, and the boys play in Story City.
Today’s slate also has been rearranged. The boys’ track meet at Nevada – the Cub Relays – was scheduled to include area teams Colo-NESCO, Grundy Center, South Hardin and West Marshall, but that event has been canceled. Same goes for the Dunkerton Invitational, to be run at Denver, which included the Meskwaki and North Tama boys’ track and field teams.
Gladbrook-Reinbeck’s home-and-away soccer games against Denver also have been postponed. The Rebel girls will play April 23 at Denver, and the boys will host Denver on April 19.
The South Tama girls’ soccer squad will make up its match at CMB on April 16.
Grundy Center’s home golf triangular against South Hardin and Union Community has been moved back to April 18.
