Bobcat boys start season with shutout of Indianola
INDIANOLA – Alfonso Gonzalez and Ellis Buchwald each scored goals for the Bobcats as the Marshalltown boys’ soccer team beat Indianola, 2-0, on the road Thursday night in the season opener.
Gonzalez put the Bobcats up 1-0 with a goal in the 41st minute and then Buchwald put the game out of reach with his tally in the 57th minute. Assists went to Toni Ordaz-Zambrano and Martin Chavarria.
“It’s a great way to start the season,” MHS coach Creighton Jenness said. “Everyone on the team showed great growth and potential for the rest of the season.”
Kreighton Miller earned the win in net for the Bobcats. He stopped two Indianola shots in recording the shutout.
“We controlled the vast majority of the game and the possession,” Jenness said. “Everyone on the roster played and did and outstanding job.”
