Cyclone’s Clyburn earns roster spot at Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Sixty-four college basketball players will take part in the 61st annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament and Iowa State’s Will Clyburn is one of them.

Clyburn was recently selected to the participate in the annual tournament, which takes place April 10-13 at Portsmouth, Va.

The top 64 seniors in college basketball are invited to the 12-day, 12-game tournament. Scouts from every NBA team will be present.

Clyburn, who played two years at Marshalltown Community College, led ISU in scoring at 14.9. He also helped the Cyclones earn their second straight NCAA Tournament appearance.

Clyburn was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and he was placed on the all-Big 12 second team. He played in the 2013 Reese’s College All-Star game Friday night and was named his team’s MVP.

Other Cyclones to compete in the tournament include Martin Rancik, Paul Shirley, Jackson Vroman, Jared Homan, Jiri Hubalek, Marquis Gilstrap and Diante Garrett.

Former Iowa standout Matt Gatens played in the tournament last year.
