Driver smashes car into Pepsi office
A Pepsi employee suffered a medical emergency that caused him to crash his car into the bottling plant office Monday afternoon.
Sgt. Rick Bellile, with the Marshalltown Police Department, said the 48-year-old man was pulling into the lot near the front office where several managers and the secretary work at 12:19 p.m.
“It was very lucky the secretary wasn’t there,” he said. “They were all at lunch.”
The man was pulling into the parking lot when a medical condition caused him to black out, losing control of his car, Bellile said.
Bellile said the man wasn’t traveling very fast. The MPD estimates the damage to the car between $8,000 and $9,000 and the damage to the building at about $15,000.
EMTs transported the driver to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center, but Bellile said he spoke with the man Monday afternoon and he was lucid and conscious. No charges will be filed on the driver.
