IVH recognizes vital role of volunteers
Erma Bombeck said it best, “Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nation’s compassion, unselfish caring, patience, and just plain loving one another.”
National Volunteer Week is April 21 to 27 and is a time to recognize and celebrate the hundreds of dedicated volunteers that help make the Iowa Veterans Home great.
These special volunteers make the difference in the lives of our residents and their families. They spend their time giving back to our nation’s heroes who have given so much to us.
Some of the activities the volunteers participate in with our residents are: bowling, planting garden boxes, sports outings, special meals, bingo, dining out, musical performances, and just getting around the Veterans Home. We also have volunteers that donate time to the gift shop, sewing room, arts & crafts, ceramics, chapel, library and so much more.
I am in awe of our volunteers who give so selflessly of themselves everyday with generosity and thoughtfulness. The volunteers at IVH are so appreciated by the residents, families, and staff. Thank you for your time it’s priceless!
