Schwan’s truck strikes bridge, driver OK
A food truck carrying prepared meals struck a bridge head-on Friday evening.
The truck, a Schwan’s delivery truck, was heading south on Zeller Avenue at 8:37 p.m. when the driver collided with a bridge north of Main Street, said Marshall County Chief Deputy Burt Tecklenburg.
The driver, Patrick McWilliams, 34, had a friend drive him to the emergency room for treatment of an injured hand. According to the insurance company, the crash totaled the truck.
Tecklenburg said Hogeland Towing called police after they were unable to pull the truck from its resting position and had to call in Dave’s Crane & Wrecker Service, out of Union, to get the truck free.
Officials had not reopened the bridge as of Monday afternoon, according to the communication center. No more details were available at press time.
