‘Zumbathon’ to benefit American Cancer Society
Letitia Teska of Marshalltown and her team know how to put the “fun” in fundraising.
For the third consecutive year, Teska is using her dance talents in tandem with the popular and invigorating Zumba dance format to raise money for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life at her Marshall Town Center studio from 1 to 4 p.m., May 4.
Teska is owner-operator of MoveWithMe Fun Fitness and a certified Zumba instructor.
“Last year we raised more than $3,500, with approximately 80 participants in attendance,” she said. “This year we want to do even better.”
A special Hip Hop Hustle dance will be performed by Teska’s instructors and participants.
Also contributing to the cause will be the Marshalltown High School Latin Dance Group and Xtreme Dance Group from Marshalltown’s 13th Street Studio.
Attendees can count on more than just dancing, as there will be snacks, water and a number of door prizes and raffles.
They range from Zumba merchandise to gift cards for local fitness-related stores to gift cards at local salons, according to Teska.
“The Zumbathon is really a fun and exciting event while raising money for a great cause,” Teska said. “And 100 percent of the proceeds will be given to the ACS/Marshalltown Relay for Life.”
