Pair of defensive backs leave Hawkeye football
IOWA CITY – Two sophomore defensive backs have announced that they will leave the University of Iowa football program.
Torrey Campbell has decided to put his focus 100 percent on track and field, while Kevin Buford will explore opportunities to play football elsewhere.
Buford was one of seven freshman to see action last year, playing in nine games and recording one solo tackle and four assists in a mostly special teams role.
Campbell redshirted in 2011 and played in just one game a year ago. He competes in sprints and hurdle events for the Hawkeye track and field program.
Iowa will conclude spring practice with an open practice at 2 p.m. Saturday in Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City.
