Blessing of the Bikes set for Saturday

The Iowa National Motorcycle Museum out of Anamosa will be the standout of this year’s Blessing of the Bikes.

“That’s definitely the draw,” Jackie Ingraham, co-owner of F&J Racing and host of the event, said. “It’s just a fantastic place everybody loves it.”

The annual event is a day-long gala underscored by a pastor handing down a blessing on motorcycle riders to have a safe riding season.

Ingraham will split the money raised between two charities – Iowa Care Package, a nonprofit that sends care packages to soldiers in combat zones, and Domestic Violence Alternatives.

“They desperately need our help,” Ingraham said.

Food will be available, and an auction featuring motorcycle accessories and parts as well as a runway show showcasing riding gear will highlight the fundraiser. Tattoo artists will be on hand, and motorcycle demonstrations should make for a fun day, Ingraham said.

There will also be live entertainment, and the blessing will take place at noon.

Last year’s gloomy weather made for poor turnout, Ingraham said, and the event only raised between $5,000 and $6,000. This year, she is setting her sights a little higher, shooting for the $10,000 mark.
