SPORTS SHORTS: CIC, Iowa Star track meets postponed

The Marshalltown High School athletic office announced a pair of changes to today’s sports schedule ahead of the anticipated winter weather.

The Central Iowa Conference track and field meet set for 3:30 p.m. today at Waukee has been postponed to Monday with the same start time.

The Bobcat girls’ golf team, fresh off clinching the CIC Northern Division crown, will not travel to Ottumwa today for the Ottumwa Invitational. The meet is not expected to be rescheduled.

The Iowa Star Conference track and field meet was also postponed to Monday. The meet, which includes area teams Colo-NESCO, GMG, Meskwaki Settlement School and North Tama will begin at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Meskwaki.

Elmwood dials up first hole-in-one

Nona Eaton had a hole-in-one on Sunday at Elmwood Country Club.

Eaton aced the 105-yard, par-3, 12th hole. The shot was witnessed by Darrell Eaton.

Rebel soccer succumbs to Decorah

REINBECK – The Class 1A No. 9-ranked Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys’ soccer team was defeated 2-0 by Decorah on Tuesday night.

The Rebels (7-3) were held scoreless for the first time this season, while the Vikings improved to 3-3 overall.

Josh Cooley and Shawn Dugan both made four saves in net for Gladbrook-Reinbeck, which will return to action Monday with a road match at 2A No. 6 Hudson.

G-R’s originally scheduled Friday contest at Denver has been postponed to May 9. The Rebel girls’ squad will now host Denver on May 13 instead of Friday.
