Times-Republican joins call for suspension of IVH Commandant

The Times-Republican is joining the call for the suspension of the Iowa Veterans Home Commandant David Worley.

The Senate Veterans Affairs Committee held a hearing Monday after several current and former employees of IVH as well as numerous community leaders made complaints about Worley’s treatment of staff and residents at the home.

Allegations of sexual harassment, bullying, threats, laying hands on employees and trying to force doctors to sign off on residents’ releases were outlined by former IVH workers and others.

The Marshalltown newspaper details in a Wednesday editorial the need for a complete investigation of the allegations and the logic of removing the commandant until it is resolved.
