North Tama tops among area squads at Iowa Star
DOWS – The North Tama boys’ golf team secured three top 10 finishes at the Iowa Star Conference meet Wednesday.
Hunter Danker shot an 82 and tied for fourth place, while Taylor Dinsdale (83) and Jakeb Cochran (84) were eighth and tied for ninth, respectively, at Dows Golf Course.
The top 10 finishers in the tourney claimed all-conference honors.
The Redhawks (335) were second overall, trailing champion Dunkerton (332) by three strokes. Clarksville (342), Tripoli (354) and Waterloo Christian (362) round out the top five.
GMG finished seventh, Colo-NESCO?was ninth and Meskwaki Settlement School ended up 10th.
The fourth counting score for North Tama was Brandon Kaufman, who finished in a tie for 14th with an 86.
GMG was led by Chad Plaehn, who finished in a tie for 11th with an 85. Also scoring for the Wolverines was Nick Niederman’s 90, Ryan Spurlin’s 93 and Bridger Claassen’s 96.
Zack Risdal led Colo-NESCO as he finished in a tie for 11th with an 86. Cole Ozbun added a 91 in a tie for 24th and the final two counting scores were Isaiah Texeira (101) and Cade Oswalt (112).
Meskwaki’s top shooter was Royce Timberwolf, who fired a 94 and finished in 29th.
Clarksville’s Zach Bergman won medalist honors with a 75.
All four area teams will play in a Class 1A sectional at Town & County Golf Club in Grundy Center on Friday. Action starts at 10 a.m.
