MACS Fun Fest set for Friday

Get ready for smiling faces, games and an overall fun event.

It’s Marshalltown Area Catholic School’s Fun Fest time and children are looking forward to its return.

“They get to run around and have a great time,” said Yvette Meyer, a parent and one of the organizers of the event.

Fun Fest will be held at the parking lot at St. Henry’s Church from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The event includes carnival-like games, a silent auction, raffle, bounce houses and the ever-popular dunk tank where students can soak their teachers.

“The teacher dunk tank really gets them excited,” Meyer said.

Fun Fest is one of the major annual fundraisers for the school.

“To keep our tuition affordable for families we have to do fundraising,” Meyer said.

The festival is open to children and families from throughout the community, not just MACS students. The rain location will be inside St. Henry school.

The day after the festival, on May 18 will be a new 5K run and walk to benefit the new school addition being built. “It’s a way to raise money and stay fit and have some fun,” Meyer said.

The race, which starts at 8 a.m., will begin at St. Henry and travel on Sixth Street to the pond then back to St. Henry.

Registration will be available at Fun Fest the day of the race. For more information on the events, call the school at 641-753-7977.
