SPORTS SHORTS: Postville puts gloomy end on G-R’s regular season

REINBECK – The Class 1A No. 9-ranked Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys’ soccer team saw its regular season end with a 2-1 loss at the hands of Postville on Thursday night.

The Rebels’ lone goal came from Chase Clark, assisted by Alex Schick. Josh Cooley made five saves in net for Gladbrook-Reinbeck (9-5).

Postville got goals from Jose Moncada and Alejandro Nunez. Juanito Vega notched an assist, and Alexis Sanchez charted nine saves for the Pirates (6-4-1).

No. 14 Rebel girls outscore Hudson, 9-5

HUDSON – Emily Snider had a hat trick and two assists to lead the Class 1A No. 14 Gladbrook-Reinbeck girls’ soccer team to a 9-5 triumph over Hudson on Thursday night.

Kyleah Dugan and Hanna Christopher both added two goals apiece, while Nicole Adair and Taylor Weida also scored for the Rebels (7-3), who have won four of their last five outings. G-R goalkeeper Erin Wentzien came up with 18 saves.
