PREP SOFTBALL: Comet duo combines to no-hit Wolverines

CONRAD – Nicolette Simpson mowed down 12 batters in four innings and the BCLUW softball team cruised past GMG, 10-0, in five innings Tuesday.

Simpson picked up the win from the circle, while Olivia Callaway threw the final frame with a pair of strikeouts.

Kendall Scurr (2-4) and Sara Sharp (2-3, 2B) each scored twice, while Kayla Benjamin (1-2) and Makayla Van Cleave (1-4) both drove in two runs and scored once. Mallory Vawter (1-2, R) and Sarah McCoy (1-3, 3B) also chipped in for the Comets at the plate.

GMG went hitless at the dish, while Mackenzie Burt took the loss from the circle.

The Wolverines host Don Bosco today, while the Comets travel to Roland-Story Friday.

Benton Community 10-10, West Marshall 0-0

VAN HORNE – The West Marshall softball team suffered a pair of 10-0 losses to Benton Community on Tuesday night.

Rachel Freland and Kallie Malloy took the losses in the circle for the Trojans.

McKenna Hotopp had a hit in both games, while Georgia Porter and Morgan Hopper each contributed a hit in the second game.

West Marshall is back in action Friday at home against Ballard.
