Bluegrass band with local roots to play Toledo

An Iowa tour swing for the bluegrass band Finnders & Youngberg includes a local stop and a local native.

Mike Finders is lead singer of the band and grew up in Marshalltown. He is also the principal songwriter and guitarist for the group. The band plays the Wieting Theater in Toledo at 7 p.m. June 28.

Finnders & Youngberg is a five-piece acoustic band which focuses on Americana and bluegrass music. It is based in Colorado and also includes the married couple Aaron Youngberg and Erin Youngberg, Rich Zimmerman and Ryan Drickey.

“All of us are traditional bluegrass musicians,” Finders said. “All five of us take that art form pretty seriously and we do mostly original songs. We’ve always tried to be artists.”

The group is also touring Tennessee, Missouri, North Carolina, Kansas, New Mexico, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and Washington this summer.

“We’re going coast to coast,” Finders said.

Finders said he is looking forward to the Toledo show.

“Returning to Iowa is really great and I’m super proud of this band,” Finders said.

Tickets for the show are $10 and at the door only. Half of the proceeds of the show go to the renovation fund of the Wieting Theatre.
