After high school, Marlene graduated from AIB in Des Moines, Iowa with a business degree. Marlene was united in marriage to Richard Allen on October 7, 1961, at St. John Lutheran Church. Even though they parted ways, they were blessed with three children between them: Mike, Jim and Steven. After Marlene graduated from AIB she worked at Equitable Life. She was also a homemaker for many years, worked at Casey’s General Store, for Iowa State Ready Mix Trucking, and her most recent job was working for Prairie Meadows. Marlene enjoyed researching Wendish genealogy. Marlene had a passion for her granddaughters, sewing, gardening, hunting, fishing, baking, mushroom hunting and anything that had to do with being outdoors. Earlier in life she also enjoyed earning extra money sewing Barbie doll clothes and making graduation cakes that always seemed to turn out perfect.

Marlene is survived by her three sons: Mike (Diane Mahn) Allen, Jim (Rhonda) Allen, and Steve Allen; one “daughter”-her faithful dog, “Mattie”; two granddaughters: Sarah and Missy Allen; several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
