New Arrivals

Kevin and Kelly Schulte, of Johnston, are parents of a son, Colton Joseph, born May 22 at Iowa Methodist in Des Moines. He was welcomed home by his older sister, Quinnlynn, 4. His grandparents are LeRoy and Anne Schulte, of Marshalltown, and Jerry and Kathy Koppel, of Plano, Ill.


Matt and Lindsay Brewer, of Englewood, Colo., are the parents of a son, Zachary Stephen Rufus Brewer, born June 10 in Littleton, Colo., weighing 7 pounds 5.6 ounces and measuring 20 inches long. Paternal grandparents are Julie Kruse Brewer, of Marshalltown, and Chuck Brewer, of Wellsburg. Great-grandfather is Dr. Rufus and the late Dorothy Kruse, of Marshalltown. Maternal grandparents are Steve and Laurie Trigonoplis, of Centennial, Colo., and great-grandmother Marjorie and the late Samuel Landis, of Colorado.

On Wednesday, Vincent Leroy Spoonemore, of Newton, was arrested for harassment of a public officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana-third or subsequent and driving while barred-habitual offender.


On Thursday, a vehicle driven by David Ray Dost, 614 E. State St., was southbound on South Center Street approaching the intersection with South Street when it went through the red light and collided with a car driven by Charles Ray Willer, 206 E. South St., which was traveling east on South Street, ricocheted off the Willer car and collided head-on with a car driven by Michelle Ann Owen, 411 Bromley St., which was traveling north on Center Street and slowing for the red light. Owen was possibly injured, but not transported. Dost was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device. Damage to the Dost vehicle was estimated at $3,000 while the Willer car received an estimated $4,000 in damage and the Owen car an estimated $1,200 in damage.

On Monday, Larry Raymond Muckelroy, 2779 Garwin Road, reported damage to a truck window and door while parked at his residence. Estimated value of damage was $500.


On Wednesday, Gustavo Alonso Diaz, 106 W. Boone St., was arrested for failure to appear.

On Tuesday, Rachel Berrones, 906 W. Prairie Lane (Upper), was arrested for probation revocation and on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance.

On June 14, Lucas James Randall, 624 W. Boone St., was arrested for operating while intoxicated-second offense.

On June 13, Miguel Angel Sanchez-Sanchez, 103 N. Ninth Ave., was arrested for driving under the influence, no insurance and open container.


On Tuesday, a car driven by Jason Ray Swan, of Newton, was northbound on Knapp Avenue, stopped at the intersection with 235th Street when it attempted to cross the intersection and collided with a car driven by Juvencio Lemus-Saldana, of State Center, which was traveling east on 235th Street. Swan was transported to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center with injuries and Lemus-Saldana was possibly injured, but not transported. Swan was cited for failure to stop or yield right of way from a stop sign. Damage to the Swan car was estimated at $8,000 while the Lemus-Saldana car received an estimated $4,000 in damage.

On Sunday, a car driven by Kassey Marie Fehrmann, of Ferguson, was westbound on 290th Street when it struck a deer that entered the roadway and entered the north ditch where it spun around. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Fehrmann car was estimated at $3,500.
