Francis “Bud” Jensen, 91, of rural Melbourne passed away on June 24, 2013 at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in Marshalltown, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in State Center, Iowa. Visitation will on Friday, June 28, 2013, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. vigil at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Francis Joe Jensen was born on February 11, 1922 in Spink County, South Dakota. He was the son of Joe and Marie (Breed) Jensen. Bud attended school in South Dakota thru the eighth grade and in 1987 at the age of 65 he went back to school and received his GED from Marshalltown Community College. Bud served his Country honorably in the United States Navy from September 21, 1942 to December 1, 1945. On November 7, 1944, Francis Joe Jensen and Edith Anne (Mullen) were united in marriage in Oaklawn, Illinois. Bud and Edith farmed in rural Melbourne since 1969, a farm he was still very active in at the age of 91. Bud had been a member of the Rhodes American Legion, Melbourne First Responders, Cattlemen’s Association, and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in State Center, Iowa. Bud loved his family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed farming; he loved the farm and lived the farm life until the very end.
Left to cherish Bud’s life are his children: Mike Jensen of Marshalltown, Kenneth “John” Jensen of Rhodes, and Judy (Denny) Paul of Marshalltown. Grandchildren: Josh Jensen, Jake Jensen, Jessi Howard, Joey Rudkin, Kim Beal, Teri Jensen, Rachael Forster, Jenny Butler, and 15 great-grandchildren.
In death Bud rejoins his loving wife, Edith; parents: Joseph and Marie, Siblings: Evelyn, Lester, Leslie, Ethel, Alvy, and Fern, two sons: Paul and Matthew Jensen, and great-grandson: Brayden Butler.
