Marshalltown man pleas guilty in $300K fraud case

A Marshalltown man pleaded guilty to defrauding a business where he worked as the chief financial officer, stealing at least $300,000 from his employer, according to the Iowa Department of Justice.

Michael Allison, 48, pleaded guilty to the charge Tuesday. Allison worked as the CFO and finance director for a regional subsidiary of Airgas, Inc. According to his plea, he mailed falsified expense reports to the regions accounting office.

Judge John Jarvey, of the U.S. District Court for Iowa’s southern district, will sentence Allison Oct. 9. Allison faces up to 20 years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines.
