Clement clubs 3rd homer in 4 games

INDIANAPOLIS – Marshalltown native Jeff Clement homered for the third time in his last four games, giving his Rochester Red Wings their eventual game-winning runs in an 8-4 victory over the Indianapolis Indians in Thursday’s International League game at Victory Field.

Clement’s 13th home run of the season, a three-run shot, capped a five-run fifth inning for the Minnesota Twins’ Triple-A affiliate. The Red Wings made the 6-1 lead stick against the farm club of the Pittsburgh Pirates, where Clement played for parts of four seasons before being let go by the organization and signed to a minor league deal by the Twins in the offseason.

In Thursday’s game, Clement finished 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs batting out of the clean-up position.

He is 5-for-13 (.385) with two doubles, two home runs and seven RBIs through three games of a four-game series with his former Indianapolis Indians.

Clement is currently tied for 11th among active players in the International League with 13 home runs, and is second on the team. His batting average sits at .214 through 71 games played for the Red Wings (41-41).
