PREP SOFTBALL: Comets snap four-game skid over West Marshall

CONRAD – Olivia Callaway twirled a three-hit shutout and the Class 2A No. 9-ranked BCLUW softball team took down West Marshall, 7-0, in Thursday’s NICL West Division clash.

The Comets (19-9, 10-3) ended a four-game losing streak by backing Callaway with nine hits of offense. Sarah McCoy was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, while Mallory Vawter finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Jessica deNeui was 1-for-3 with two RBIs, while Callaway helped herself out with an RBI single. Makayla Van Cleave and Kendall Scurr both singled and scored, while Kayla Benjamin singled and her pinch-runner Kayla Fisher scored. Jorie Oaks walked and scored as well.

Callaway struck out three and did not walk a batter in the win. BCLUW is off until hosting Aplington-Parkersburg on Monday night.

West Marshall (7-20, 4-7) did not report.
