SPORTS SHORTS: Waukee 10-runs MHS freshmen twice
WAUKEE – The Marshalltown freshman baseball team was 10-runned twice by Waukee on Wednesday night, falling 16-1 in four innings and 15-5 in six innings.
Marshalltown’s only hit and run in the first game came from Mason Huntley. He also stole a base. Dayton Slifer took the loss on the mound.
The Bobcats (7-24) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in game two but could not hang on. Jordan Smiley went all 5 2/3 innings on the hill for MHS, which committed seven errors.
Paden Himes went 1-for-3 with a double for the Bobcats. Cole Keeler and Tim Potter both went 1-for-1 with an RBI, Huntley was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Devan Mann was 1-for-2 with a run scored.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday at Des Moines East.
