Report: Ferch charged with operating while intoxicated

Iowa State defensive back Drake Ferch has been charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, the Ames Tribune reported Monday.

Ferch, a redshirt junior from State Center, was reportedly pulled over at 2:21 a.m. on Saturday when he was observed going westbound in the eastbound lane on Lincoln Way in Ames, the Tribune reports.

Ferch, 21, reportedly refused a preliminary breathalyzer but later consented to a chemical breathalyzer. His blood alcohol content was .172, the Tribune story stated.

Ferch is a West Marshall High School graduate who played two seasons at Iowa Western Community College before transferring to Iowa State.
