Police arrest sex offender living near child care center
A Marshalltown man convicted of two counts of third-degree sexual abuse was arrested Wednesday for living within 2,000 feet of a Marshalltown child care center.
Donald Liger, 57, allegedly provided his address to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, and after an investigation, was found to be living elsewhere.
Capt. Mike Hanken, Marshalltown Police Department, said Liger was staying at the Economy Inn, 3108 S. Center St., which is within 2,000 feet of the Tiger Tot Child Care Center at Marshalltown Community College.
Liger was charged with violation of sex offender registry, a Class D felony, near his registered address on the 100 block of North Second Street.
He was convicted of two counts of third-degree sexual abuse in June 2005, according to the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. The victim is listed as a female between the ages of 0-13.
