Cedano DJ Thomas, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a warrant for burglary first degree, criminal mischief and probation violation. Files have been transfered to the district court to schedule an initial appearance. A public defender has been assigned to the case.
Danny Triplett, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a warrant for probation violation. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle his cases. The probation revocation hearing was scheduled for 2 p.m. July 26. Bond for each charge is set at $2,000 cash only.
Dustin Lee Nail, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a sex offender registry violation-second or subsequent offense charge. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. Aug. 6. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.
Nicholas G. Bushinger made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a no insurance charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. Sept. 3 in Magistrate Court.
A juvenile appeared a curfew violation charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. the court allowed for 12 hours of community service in lieu of the fine and surcharge plus pay the court costs to be completed within 90 days of today’s date.
Charles W. Edwards made an initial appearance on five overtime parking violations. He pleaded not guilty. A pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. Sept. 3 in Magistrate Court.
Russel E. Larson Jr. made an initial appearance on a warrant for a a theft-fifth degree charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $50 with a $17.50 surcharge and $406.30 in court costs for a total of $473.80. The court ordered payment plan for the charges.
Robert A. Ratliff made an initial appearance on a warrant for a probation violation charge. The revocation hearing has been set for 10:30 a.m. Aug. 5. Bond is set $2,000 cash only.

Erica Velez made an initial appearance on a warrant for violation of no contact order and pre-trial violation. Arraignment hearing is set for 1 p.m. July 30. Bond was set at $1,000 cash or surety.

On Monday, Terry Allen Crosser, 213 W. Meadow Lane, reported damage to produce-pumpkins, a section of fence and a screen door at 2606 Smith Ave. Estimated value of damage was $1,570.
On July 11, Harold Virgil Bollhoefer, of Laurel, reported damage to a security light and the front windshield and passenger side window on a vehicle while parked at 101 Market St., Laurel. Estimated value of damage was $415.
On July 13, Michael Shawn Edwards, of Liscomb, was arrested for simple assault.
On July 13, Kyle Franklin Chapman, of Urbandale, was arrested for violation of pre-trial release.
On July 12, Dean Wesley Picotte, 1501 Summit St., was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear.
On July 12, Steven Ray Ralls, of Grundy Center, was arrested on a warrant for violation of a no-contact order.
On July 12, Nichole Lashelle Jans, of State Center, was arrested for operating while intoxicated.
On July 11, Kristin Angela Lau, of Palo, was arrested on a warrant for probation violation.
On July 11, Steven Ray Ralls, of Grundy Center, was arrested for probation violation.
On July 11, Nicholas Gene Bushinger, of Garwin, was cited for driving under suspension and failure to prove security against liability.
On Tuesday, a pickup driven by Charles Kroeger, 56, 308 Third St. S.E., State Center, was westbound in the 1500 mile of 220th Street when he slowed to make a right turn into a driveway. A car driven by Christina Butler, 31, 105 Third St., State Center, was also westbound in the 1500 mile of 220th Street then struck the Kroeger vehicle in the rear. No injuries were reported. Damages to the Kroeger truck was estimated at $700 while the Butler car received an estimated at $4,000.
On Tuesday, a car driven Carol Slifer, 44, 1808 Wallace Ave., was southbound on Wallace Avenue slowing to turn into 1816 Wallace when a car driven by Kaitlynn Hansen, 19, 206 Center St., Garwin, struck the Slifer vehicle in the rear. No injuries reported. Hansen was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Slifer care was estimated at $250. Damage to the Hansen was estimated at $1,000.
Grundy County Sheriff’s Office
On July 3, a car driven by Claire Schroeder, 80, of Grundy Center, was westbound on Highway 175 east of Grundy Center when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. Damage to the Schroeder car was estimated at $1,525.
On July 5, a car driven by Krista Cooper, 39, of Conrad, was on D-55 east of Hawk Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. Damage to the Cooper car was estimated at $1,501.
On July 8, a semi driven by Randy Gehrke, 61, of Sumner, was southbound on H Avenue when the driver tried to turn around in a farm drive. While turning around the rear wheels of the trailer dropped off in the ditch causing the tractor/trailer to roll onto its side. Damage to the Gehrke semi was estimated at $10,000.
On July 10, a car driven by Amanda Harrison, 22, of Reinbeck, was southbound on Blackhawk Street when the driver became distracted by her child and struck two legally parked cars; one owned by Thomas Boheman, of Reinbeck, and the second car owned by James Yates, of Reinbeck. Damage to the Harrison car was estimated at $3,500. Damage to the Boheman vehicle was estimated at $3,000 and damage to the Yates car was estimated at $2,000.
On Wednesday, a car driven by Jose Rivas Perez, 26, of Grundy Center, was westbound on D-35 when the driver dropped off the roadway onto the shoulder, lost control and rolled the vehicle when it entered the north ditch. Damage to the Rivas Perez car was estimated at $26,000.
