Eldora Pine Lake Festival this weekend

In recent years, Eldora has done plenty of work to spruce up its downtown area. That work goes a long way this weekend as the town hosts its annual Pine Lake Festival.

Many of the events will be centered around downtown Friday night through Saturday night in the eastern Hardin County town.

The nearby lower lake of Pine Lake State Park will host a 5K at 8:30 a.m Saturday on its trails. The trail along the lakes makes for one of the most scenic races in the area. The lower lake will also be the site of kayak races at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The upper lake will host a fishing tournament from 6 a.m. to noon Saturday.

See the beauty of the area in an open-air tram with tours throughout the day Saturday. The tram rides run from 8 a.m. to dusk and include visits to the fairgrounds, campground, lake, pool and historical museum.

The festival will also make history and preserve it at the same time with the ribbon cutting and open house of the Hardin County Historical Society library. The event will be held from 1:3O to 4 p.m. at 1236 Edgington, which is the main road through town.

Visitors are encouraged to bring a lawn chair downtown to take in the music of the Heartland Duo, which will play blues and Dixieland music from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday.

The festival wraps up with a community church service at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Chapel on the Hill on First Street.
