Man charged with assaulting fleeing wife
A Marshalltown man faces several charges after allegedly assaulting his wife in front of their child.
Nathan Alan Cox, 37, of Marshalltown, is charged with serious domestic assault, a serious misdemeanor, child endangerment without injuries, an aggravated misdemeanor and public intoxication, a simple misdemeanor.
The incident occurred around 9 p.m. Tuesday night when Cox and his wife got into a verbal argument. When she attempted to leave their home with their child, he reached into the vehicle and assaulted her by striking her in the head several times, according to a police report.
Cox was taken into custody without incident in the 400 block of North First Avenue. He made an initial court appearance Wednesday. Bond is set at $2,000 and a no-contact order was issued for the victim. A preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 2.

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a call on West Church Street, two fire calls to 1501 Summit St. and 310 Columbus Drive and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 118 W. Main St., 512 W. Southridge Road, 206 Nicholas Drive, 609 S. Ninth St., 610 Westwood Drive and 1301 S. Sixth St.
The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 3202 S. 12th St., 509 S. Fourth St., 22 N. Center St. and 610 Westwood Drive.
The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to three calls: 906 N. Fifth Ave., 2802 S. Center St. and 207 E. Webster St., two fire calls to 104 E. Linn St. and 1412 S. Sixth St. and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 707 E. Boone St., 521 N. First St., 10 S. Seventh Ave. and 117 W. Main St.
The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a medical assist with the EMS crew to 1608 W. Church St., and three calls: 108 N. Eighth St., 303 Nicholas Drive and 3203 Merritt Road

On Monday, Pudoli Mendoza Gonzalez, 2015 Skyline Drive, was arrested for operating while intoxicated-second offense.
On Monday, Dolphus M. Coleman, 522 N. First St. Apt. #210, was arrested for violation of a no-contact order.
On Monday, Andrea Thompson, 308 Plaza Heights Road Apt. #4, was arrested for violation of a no-contact order.
On Tuesday, Nathan Alan Cox, 402 N. First Ave., was arrested for serious domestic assault, public intoxication and child endangerment without injury.
On Tuesday, Robin Leigh Zitzow, 116 N. First St. Apt. #1, was arrested for theft-fifth degree.
On Tuesday, Jaime Nunez, 314 S. 14th Ave., was arrested for driving while barred.
On Monday, Terry Reason Cullor Jr., 510 N. Second St., reported the theft of a Mirraco BMX bicycle and the recovery of a black Schwinn mountain bike and a gray and orange bicycle. Estimated value of loss was $150.
On Friday, an employee with Kapaun & Brown, 1002 Lincolnway, reported the theft of a Trane XE900 used air conditioner. Estimated value of loss was $100.
On Tuesday, Jaime Nunez-Cruz, 314 S. 14th Ave., was cited for driving while barred.
Marshall County Sheriff’s Office
On Tuesday, Tony Adam Harris, of Toledo, was arrested for failure to appear on a driving while barred charge and for failure to appear on a probation revocation charge.
On Monday, Rick Lee Wages, 2511 Reed Ave., was arrested for domestic abuse assault.
