Redhawks’ Wrage makes it four straight

North Tama senior Jacob Wrage has received all-district baseball honors for the fourth year in a row, highlighting this summer’s collection of 17 area preps to be named as such by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Wrage was twice an all-district second-team selection before receiving first-team honors his junior and senior campaigns. He helped the Redhawks achieve a 27-11 record as the leadoff hitter, batting .441 with team-highs of 56 hits, 47 runs, 16 doubles, two triples and 40 RBIs.

He went 5-5 as a starting pitcher and played either catcher or first base defensively when he wasn’t on the mound.

Wrage was one of seven first-team all-Central District selections from the area in Class 1A, and one of nine first-team picks from the Marshalltown region overall. He was joined on the 1A Central District first team by teammate Dalton Hulme for the second year in a row, along with Isaac Novak and Tyler Lutes of BCLUW, Bryce Moats and Ryon Appel of Grundy Center, and AGWSR’s Cody Williams.

Novak was a second-team selection a year ago for the Comets.

Six members of the 17-player 1A Central District second team were from the area as well: Brody Hulme, Brent Billerbeck and Caden Stuart of North Tama; Trevor Trunck and Joe Zimmerman of Gladbrook-Reinbeck; and Brandyn Niemeyer from Colo-NESCO.

West Marshall’s Jared Riemenschneider received all-district honors for the third time in as many years, repeating as a first-team pick with his selection to the Class 2A Central District squad. He was joined on the unit by teammate Nolan Sinning, who received his first all-district honor.

Marshalltown senior utility Blake Judkins collected second-team all-North Central District honors in Class 4A, while South Tama County senior pitcher Sam Kuhter was a second-team pick in Class 3A’s Central District.
