Hobbies and interests: I enjoy going to Iowa State University sporting events. I also like being outdoors. Regardless, if it is going on walks, bike rides, or just sitting outside.

Occupation: Dietitian at Hy-Vee store in Marshalltown. I began in June, and truly enjoy my job.

What that means: One responsibility is providing nutrition information to customers, such as explaining the NuVal system, and assisting customers choose healthier options. Additionally, I provide counseling for those with food restrictions or have food allergies, intolerance’s, or wish to lose weight. I offer biometric screenings, complimentary store tours, and on the look out to add new products to our Health Market.

Book: “The Shack,” by William P. Young

Films: I don’t watch many movies, but do watch television. My top two shows are “How I Met Your Mother,” and “Revenge.”

Foods: I love trying new foods. Recently I’ve been making “Green Smoothies,” comprised of green, leafy vegetables mixed with fruit. It is ideal – one is getting nutrients from vegetables but only taste the fruit. Thin crust pizza, with different toppings are a favorite as well. An “Asian Salad” topping – with peanut sauce as one ingredient – is one I’ve come to like recently.

Sports: ISU Cyclones

Local involvement: I was president of a volunteer organization at ISU. Additionally, I assisted at the homeless shelter in Ames with other club members. Overall, I enjoy volunteering and helping others.

Most influential people: I would say the most influential people would be my family as a whole, as each member of my family has influenced me in some aspect.

Advice to others: I was told once: You learn from everyone you meet, no matter how young, old or educated they are, you can always learn a little bit of something from someone.
