Man allegedly used fake money at Casey’s
A Marshalltown man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly attempted to pay a Casey’s clerk with counterfeit money.
Aaron John Frank, 38, is charged with forgery, a Class D felony.
A police report states that the clerk felt the money was suspicious and refused to accept it. An officer arrived minutes later and said the wad of cash did not look or feel like actual currency and upon further examination several of the bills had identical serial numbers.
Capt. Mike Hanken of the Marshalltown Police Department said police deal with cases of phony money a few times each year.
If convicted, Frank faces up to five years in prison.
Man accused of continually assaulting woman
A Marshalltown man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly assaulted a woman.
Issaiah Thomas Roberts, 34, was charged with serious domestic assault, a serious misdemeanor.
The woman told police that Roberts constantly threatens and often assaults her. She claimed Roberts had assaulted her Wednesday but left no sign of injury. The day before, she said, Roberts grabbed her left shoulder. The arresting officer observed a large bruise on the woman’s shoulder.
Roberts denied the charges to police, claiming the woman became angry because he was talking to another woman. When asked about the bruise, Roberts said the woman had fallen into a wall.
If convicted Roberts faces a maximum sentence of one year in prison.
