Busy Saturday in store for Pioneer Days

Le Grand has packed several events into one day for its annual festival – maybe that’s why it has to be called Pioneer Days.

The annual town celebration in eastern Marshall County returns Saturday with events spanning from the morning through the night.

“It’s just something for everyone and the families to come out and enjoy,” said Linda Weitzell, one of the organizers of the festival.

The 11 a.m. parade will feature the 2013 Little Miss and Mr. Pioneer Days, who are Morgan Neuroth and her brother, Blake Neuroth. New East Marshall Schools Superintendent Dianne Anderson will be honored as grand marshal of the parade.

“We knew that she was new to the community and we wanted to have a way to recognize her,” Weitzell said.

A street dance featuring the bands Minor Night (6:30 p.m.) and Loose Neutral (9:45 p.m) will be in the town square.

At the same time, there will be performances by the the singing group Sweet Adeline’s at 6:30 p.m. and the music group The Friendly Five at 7:45 p.m. in the city park.

“We wanted to try to do something new so people can choose to go to the park or the town square,” Weitzell said.

Fireworks will be shot off at 9:15 p.m. For more information visit www.legrandpioneerdays.com.
