State Center man allegedly pits children against each other
A State Center man was arrested Tuesday after police claim he forced his 6- and 4-year-old children to beat up his 5-year-old child. Brock Thomas Buck, 38, was taken into custody Tuesday, one week after he allegedly had two of his children hit his other child in the child’s face. The report states the 5-year-old suffered minor physical injuries as well as severe emotional distress.
Buck is charged with two counts of child endangerment, each an aggravated misdemeanor, and neglect of a dependent person, a Class C felony.
Marshalltown man allegedly tried to run over woman
A Marshalltown man was arrested Tuesday after witnesses claim he tried to run over his girlfriend. Juan Carlos Castellano Muratella, 20, was arrested Tuesday night after police say he accelerated his car at the woman. Muratella’s car crashed into a parked car and the woman was unharmed. The couple’s child, whose age was not disclosed in a police report, was in Muratella’s car at the time. The child was unharmed.
Muratella is charged with aggravated domestic assault and child endangerment, both aggravated misdemeanors.

On Monday, William W. Hildreth, of Rhodes, reported the theft of a Craftsman air compressor, a DeWalt laser transit and a Bosch electric jack hammer from 803 S. Third Ave. Estimated value of loss was $3,200.
On Monday, Robert Brekke, 304 W. Southridge Road, reported hit and run damage to the driver side rear quarter panel on a GMC Sonoma pickup while parked at his residence. Estimated value of damage was $900.
On Monday, Shayna Renae Hindman, 511 E. Olive St. Apt. #6, reported hit and run damage to the passenger side of a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am while parked at 500 W. Southridge Road. Estimated value of damage was $1,500.
On Monday, Michael Allan Schnelle, of Laurel, reported hit and run damage to the driver side front quarter panel on a 2007 Chevy Silverado pickup while parked at the Marshall Town Center, 2500 S. Center St. Estimated value of damage was $400.
On Monday, Aug. 19, Tony Allen Kloppenborg, 7 N. Third St., reported BB gunshot damage to a window at his residence. Estimated value of damage was $1,000.
On Tuesday, Misty Lynn Smith, 714 E. Anson St., reported the theft of money, a diamond key necklace and a pair of Nike tennis shoes from two vehicles while parked at her residence. Estimated value of loss was $320.
On Sunday, an employee at Walmart, 2802 S. Center St., reported the theft of 13 water filters, two one pound adapters, eight Bosch spark plugs, four Bosch spark plugs, two Bosch spark plugs, four Bosch spark plugs and four Fuse plugs valued at $1,000.39.
On Monday, a car driven by Soledad Morales Garcia, 10 E. Webster St., was traveling through the parking lot at the Marshall Town Center when, due to brake failure, it collided with a car driven by Wendy Nicole Demaris, of Ames, as it attempted to brake. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Morales Garcia car was estimated at $1,000 while the Demaris car received an estimated $800 in damage.
On Monday, a pickup truck legally parked in the 500 block of West Southridge Road exited it’s parking spot and collided with the side of a car driven by Shayna Renae Hindman, 511 E. Olive St. Apt. #6, which was westbound on Southridge and then left the scene. Damage to the Hindman car was estimated at $1,500.
On Wednesday, a vehicle driven by Sonia Y. Morciego, 1305 W. Olive St., was northbound in the 200 block of First Street when it went through the stop sign and collided with a vehicle driven by Danny Ray Mills, 404 W. Linn St., which was traveling west on Boone Street. No injuries were reported. Morciego was cited for failure to obey a stop or yield sign. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $3,000 each.
On Tuesday, Diego Villa-Magana, 7 S. Seventh Ave., was cited for driving while revoked.
On Wednesday, Derrick Terrell Morris, 1401 S. Seventh Ave. Apt. #203, was arrested for violation of a no-contact order.
