Panthers’ Farley picked for MVFC defensive award

ST. LOUIS – Northern Iowa linebacker Jake Farley has been named the Missouri Valley Football Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Drake, the MVFC announced Sunday.

Farley, the son of Panthers’ head coach Mark Farley, finished with 12 tackles in Northern Iowa’s 45-14 romp over visiting Drake on Saturday at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. He also notched his first career touchdown, returning a fumble 20 yards to paydirt.

This marks the junior’s first MVFC Player of the Week honor.

Northern Iowa is off this weekend, returning to action on Sept. 21 against Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo.
