Glenwood Place manager receives statewide honor
Glenwood Place Manager Pamela Wells said she feels she has helped create a more positive and healthy atmosphere leading the assisted living center in Marshalltown the past two years.
It appears her peers throughout the state have taken notice.
Wells was honored recently with the Administrator of the Year award at the Iowa Assisted Living Association annual conference in West Des Moines.
“I was really excited and honored,” Wells said.
Among the positive changes at Glenwood led by Wells is an effort to bring more exercise programs to the facility.
“We just want a better lifestyle for our residents,” Wells said.
Being active also means getting their residents out and about. Glenwood Place has a bus which has transported residents to different tourist spots and visited the Iowa State Fair this year.
“We just want a more growing, active community here,” Wells said.
She also oversaw the addition of two townhouse facilities for independent living on the north side of the Glenwood site. She said this expansion was another reason why she believed she won the award.
Wells anticipates even more expansion in the future on Glenwood’s 10-acre site.
“We are anticipating even more independent living and more assisted living as well,” Wells said.
Wells was nominated for the award by co-worker Joy Cox.
“Pamela is one of the most compassionate, caring people I have had the privilege to work beside,” Cox said. “Whatever it takes, no matter the time of day, Glenwood Place residents and families know that she will be there to see them through.”
