Local man issued on warrant arrested
A local man was taken into custody after a warrant was issued for him last June for domestic abuse, false imprisonment and willful injury charges.
Derrick Priest, 41, of Marshalltown was picked up and arrested at 7:35 p.m., Thursday night, at the 100 block of North 2nd Street.
Priest was issued a warrant on June 17, for repeated acts of assault against an adult female.
He was charged with a serious misdemeanor of false imprisonment, strangulation domestic abuse and willful injury felonies.
Priest is in jail on a $5,000 bond and a no contact order was issued. His preliminary hearing is Sept. 23.

Brian and Laura Hickman, of rural Creston, are the parents of a daughter, Grace Marie Hickman, born Aug. 30 weighing 6 pounds, 11 ounces and measuring 19 inches in length. Welcoming Grace home are big sister, Kaitlyn, 2.5-years-old. Grandparents are Rick and Lynn Hickman, of Melbourne, and Max and Catherine Nedved, of Webster City. Great grandparents are Phyllis Brokaw and Donna Hickman, both of Corning, and Margaret Stark and Dick and Maize Nedved, all of Webster City.
Brent and Susan Beichley, of Gladbrook, are the parents of a daughter, Jenna Renee Beichley, born on July 23 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo weighing 8 pounds, 15 ounces and measuring 19.25 inches in length. Jenna is welcomed home by big brother, Jayden. Grandparents are Gary and Gloria Boone and Duane and Barbara Beichley, all of Gladbrook. Great-grandparents are Camilla Kosar, of Marshalltown.
Jesse and Michelle Bryngelson, of Urbandale, are the parents of a daughter, Autumn Clare Bryngelson, born at 11:09 a.m. on Sept. 5. Welcoming Autumn home is big brother, Ty. Grandparents include: Richard and Lynn Bryngelson, of Marshalltown; Marianne and Rick Post, of Algona; and Dale Berger, of Humboldt. Great-grandparents are: Mildred Bryngelson, of Marshalltown; Perry and Codean Howell, of Hermitage, Mo., and Virginia Berger, of Carroll.

Grandparents are Mark and Arlene Gord, of Rhodes; Tony Varnum, of Marshalltown, and the late Connie and Howard Blomme, of Belle Plaine. Great grandparents are Delores Gord and the late Edward Gord, of Marshalltown.

Welcoming Oliver home are big sister Lillian and big brother Hendrik. Grandparents are: Julie and the late Mike Hill, of Marshalltown, and Jerry and Cindy Kutzner, of Marshalltown. Great grandparents are Wanda and the late Don Hill, of Windsor Heights, and Joan Swartz and Barbara Settle, of Marshalltown.

On Tuesday, a car driven by Juanita May Gile, 2112 Edgebrook Drive, was eastbound on East Main Street approaching the intersection with South Third Avenue when it entered the intersection on a red light and collided with a car driven by Daniel Michael Flanagan, of Grinnell, which was traveling north on Third Avenue. No injuries were reported. Gile was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $2,000 each.
On Monday, Sept. 9, a car driven by Betty Ann Pieper, 501 Reynolds Drive, was attempting to park in the 10 block of East Main Street when it sideswiped a vehicle that was legally parked. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Pieper car was estimated at $300 while the legally parked vehicle received an estimated $2,000 in damage.
On Monday, a car driven by April Sue Kunkel, 1701 Laurel Drive, was southbound on South Center Street approaching the intersection with Nicholas Drive when it collided with the rear of a pickup driven by James Francesco Danza, Royal Palm Beach, Fla., which was stopped awaiting a pedestrian to cross the intersection. No injuries were reported. Kunkel was cited for failure to stop within an assured, clear distance. Damage to the Kunkel car was estimated at $2,000 while the Danza pickup received an estimated $100 in damage.
