Resides: Marshalltown

Hometown: I grew up on a farm near Rock Valley. My parents still live on the property, which is a Century Farm. Later, I graduated from the American Institute of Business with a degree in court reporting.


Family: My husband is Dan. We have two daughters, Laura Bent and Diana Wright. Laura’s husband is Steve and they have three boys, Sam, Levi and David. They reside in Essex, Vt. Diana’s husband is Josh, with their daughter, Abby, and son, Joey. They reside in White Bear Lake, Minn. We have two sons, Tom and John. Tom is a fishing guide in Bozeman, Mont. John, is a graduate student at Minnesota State University, Mankato and a graduate assistant with the football team.

Hobbies and interests: Spending time with children and grandchildren. Knitting, reading, swimming, playing the piano, playing cards and walking.


Occupation: I assist Dan with office and administrative duties for our company, Ameripole, which performs contract work for electric utility companies.


Book: “Unbroken,” by Laura Hillenbrand.

Food: Fresh, grilled salmon.


Best part of living here: Good people. A great place to raise a family.

Local involvement: Member of Marshalltown’s Our Saviour Lutheran Church; P.E.O. Chapter JU; Starpha; 100 Women Who Care; president of Marshalltown Meals on Wheels – a not-for-profit organization that helps people live independently by providing healthy meals and importantly, personal contact. We are successful because of a supportive board of directors and many faithful drivers from the Marshalltown area. Meals on Wheels has been serving folks since 1967.

Advice: Happiness isn’t something you ever achieve; but only receive – like a gift.
